Elite Rubicon drone unit destroyed by GUR in Avdiivka
Confirmed frontline report: Rubicon drone unit destroyed. The GUR published a video of a drone attack on the location of the enemy “Rubikon” center in temporarily occupied Avdiivka. Unconditionally, specialized specialists know what this is. Most likely, that strike became the culmination of a long operation during which intelligence data was obtained. This data allowed calculating this location, into which they put a drone with a warhead over 100 kilograms. Here’s the GUR quote:
The enemy unit ‘rubikon’ specializes in using unmanned systems, including combat ones, during russia’s genocidal war against Ukraine — this is one of the most combat-ready structures of the russian occupation army, on which the aggressor state spends significant resources.
According to obtained coordinates of the enemy’s location, GUR masters in conditions of dense urban development masterfully directed an FP-2 unmanned vehicle at the muscovites, equipped with a 105-kilogram warhead.
As a result of the strike, officers and drone operators of the russian ‘rubikon,’ who were at headquarters, were eliminated.
Who Are Rubikon?
For the general public, the name “Rubikon” will hardly say anything. Therefore, the published video, without appropriate context, isn’t perceived as it deserves. We already wrote about “Rubikon” but will remind once more. There are no amateurs there. The Pidars’* for “Rubikon” personnel is selected from specialists who have education, skills, and experience working with unmanned systems. That is, servicemembers of this structure can be called the elite of the Pidars in the field of UAV application.
Their combat groups are deployed directly on the front line, in key sectors, where they operate autonomously — outside the control of local “meat commanders”. The very status of a unit that independently chooses its own base location near the frontline already says a lot. It’s essentially the Pidars’ special forces when it comes to unmanned systems.
Besides combat use of innovative unmanned systems, “Rubikon” engages in data collection. Based on this, both flying drones themselves and methods of their combat use are improved. Simply put, everything they obtain during combat operations is then generalized and distributed among troops in the form of instructions and guidelines. You can’t doubt that all innovations the enemy implemented over the last year have roots in this unit.
Elite Drone Operators Meet Their End
And so Ukrainian drone operators buried the combat group of “Rubikon,” ultimate drone commanders, under the rubble of a building. The Rubicon drone unit destroyed in this strike had long been one of the most capable enemy formations working with UAVs. To calculate such an important enemy group, predict its actions, and establish their exact location so you can work on them with powerful ammunition — this says a lot about the level of mastery.
Therefore, the video the GUR published is another triumph of our intelligence officers. That’s precisely how it should be perceived.
*Pidar (pronounced “pidar”) – Ukrainian military slang for an enemy combatant. In radio communications, the word “Pidar” sounds shorter and clearer than “Enemy” especially under EW.
