June 17 Massive Strike: 440 Drones, 32 Missiles Hit Ukraine

Kyiv residents don’t need anyone to tell them about the June 17 massive strike — everyone saw and heard everything perfectly. Nevertheless, we’ll provide some observations and impressions. From the evening, it became clear that the night would be intense. The enemy started launching Shaheds unusually early. This always happens when the enemy plans to use its launch means twice per night. In general, this is worth considering for those who can organize a bright festival for enemy drone operators. As is known, such means are extremely vulnerable at the moment of reloading. Both personnel are on site and ammunition has just been delivered.

At one time, Japan lost its carrier group precisely because the Americans caught it during ammunition reloading of its aircraft. In other words, the enemy creates vulnerability for itself by already marking its location and guaranteed to be messing with reloading. But probably, this is already known to relevant specialists. At least, such exercises by the enemy shouldn’t pass unpunished.

The Attack Unfolds in Waves

The first wave of the enemy attack followed the usual scenario. Shaheds rattle, air defense starts working, and Shaheds begin to fall — somewhere with a spark, and somewhere without it. In over 50% of cases, the fall accompanies warhead detonation, although the moped actually got shot down. And then Kinzhals came, and as far as we could hear, they managed to intercept them. Then a new wave of drones came, and this continued until cruise missiles came. The Air Force didn’t provide data on the enemy’s use of Iskanders.

Several missiles got through. I won’t analyze the statistics the Air Force provided, but everyone can draw their own conclusions. We’ll just provide general data: 472 strike means deployed, and 428 got destroyed or neutralized. Accordingly, 44 units got through. And because the main strike direction targeted Kyiv, a significant part of what got through hit precisely Kyiv.

The Casualties Mount

As of 9:00 AM, emergency services reported 14 dead and over a hundred wounded. This data comes from the most affected districts — Solomianskyi and Darnytskyi. The heaviest arrivals happened precisely there and, accordingly, fires that at dawn closed the sky on the Right and Left Bank of the capital. As is known, a missile collapsed an entire entrance of a high-rise building in Solomianskyi district. The predominant number of dead are there. Probably, the data will update, because crews continue to clear rubble. It’s quite possible they’ll find someone else under it.

Cluster Munitions Against Apartment Buildings

In general, there’s factual and unconditional confirmation of strikes precisely on high-rise buildings. Moreover, at the site of one of the arrivals, the capital’s mayor demonstrates submunitions found nearby. This indicates the enemy used missiles with cluster warheads. And in general, he acts for one reason — from a sense of impunity. In turn, this happens because such an attack on the capital of Ukraine hasn’t yet had a response in the form of an attack on targets in the capital of russia.

The June 17 massive strike demonstrates this pattern clearly. The enemy feels no consequences. They reload their launch systems twice in one night. They use cluster munitions against residential buildings. And they kill civilians while the world watches.

They do this precisely because no equivalent response hits moscow when they hit Kyiv.
