Massive ruSSia Strike to Ukraine October 22
The Strike to Ukraine October 22 turned out exactly as expected — massive, chaotic, and pointless. They had prepared for days, but the only real result was proving, once again, that destruction is their only strategy. The Pidars¹ threw everything they had into the assault: swarms of drones, ground-launched cruise missiles, and both ballistic and aeroballistic ones.
By 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Air Force gave a report on the enemy’s night attack on the territory of Ukraine. The data has a final form only regarding missiles. At the time of the report, some number of Shaheds was still in our sky. It’s not excluded that the number of shot down and “suppressed” drones will increase.
The Pidars tried to replace the absence of Kalibrs and Kh-101 missiles, which their strategic aviation launches, with other means of destruction. In particular, they launched an extremely large number of ballistic and aeroballistic missiles. It looks like this:

Aeroballistic missiles Kh-47M2 Kinzhal – 4/0
Ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KN-23 – 11/6
Ground-based cruise missiles Iskander-K – 9/8
Guided aviation missiles Kh-59/69 – 4/2
Shahed drones – 405/333
And as said at the beginning, some more drones were still in Ukrainian airspace at the time of the report. If they can’t be shot down or suppressed, the percentage of neutralized drones will be around 80. If they can, the percentage will be higher. As can be seen, not a single Kinzhal was intercepted. Almost half of the ballistic Iskanders were also not intercepted. According to Air Force data, 12 missiles and 55 strike drones hit 26 locations. At 19 locations, debris from shot-down means of destruction was recorded falling. According to data visible over the last half hour, we have six dead civilians and several dozen wounded, including children.
Why No Kh-101 or Kalibrs?
If there were no Kh-101 type missiles and sea-based cruise missiles, this can mean one of two things. Either extreme haste, or problems or expectation of problems specifically today. The haste could have been caused by a direct order from Pootin to strike. This was connected with the White House canceling or postponing the announced meeting of Khuilo² and Trump in Budapest. The Kremlin is clearly reflecting on this. Yesterday evening they made mutually exclusive statements about the prospects of this meeting.
It’s understandable. After all, the circus in Anchorage was about nothing. But the orcs were told for ten days straight about Pootin’s greatness. They were told how he bent Trump there. It seems that even completely useless events, Pootin uses to show that he can still travel abroad. He can meet with someone besides Xi. Especially when it comes to Hungary, where Putin’s absolutely hand-held dog Orbán would undoubtedly have arranged a reception with royal honors for the führer.
Budapest Meeting Canceled: Multiple Factors
But as far as can be understood, several factors came together against this meeting. First, virtually all US partners in NATO came out with a single opinion. If Pootin is not going to move to a ceasefire, any talks with him make no sense. The second point – the Europeans did not give guarantees. In fact, they blocked the possibility of Pootin’s plane flying to Hungary. Because Hungary’s airspace has no access to the sea, and therefore to neutral waters, without such consent, the flight is not possible.
Poland generally stated that it gives no guarantees not only for the plane’s flyover. It also gives no guarantees to Pootin himself that the plane will not be landed. That Pootin himself will not be arrested and sent to The Hague. However, the orcs, in the person of one Dmitriev, stated the continuation of work on preparing the “summit”. But in the evening, Reuters published the opinion of its high-ranking and reliable source in the White House. After the phone conversation between Secretary of State Rubio and Minister of Coke-Chemical Industry Lavrov, all activities on this topic were completely stopped:
There are no plans for a meeting between US and russian presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in the near future, a senior White House official said Tuesday. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also do not plan personal negotiations, the official said.
Some sources say that Rubio directly asked Lavrov whether Pootin is ready to announce readiness for a ceasefire in Budapest. And when the horse started telling him no, he ended the empty chatter.
The Reputational Blow and Compensatory Strike
Actually, as soon as these messages passed, which deprived Pootin of the opportunity to show off in Anchorage style, the situation became very unpleasant. It became directly opposite for Putin’s image. It immediately became clear that Pootin was the petitioner side. Both in terms of the phone conversation with Trump and in terms of the Budapest meeting. And Trump agreed to talk with him but refused the meeting. And this is a reputational blow. It could only be compensated by an urgent massive attack on Ukraine, which we all observed this night. Preliminarily, the strike looked like this:

I can analyse how everything unfolded in the capital. It came in two waves. The first hit around one o’clock in the morning when the enemy fired several ballistic missiles at once. I clearly heard at least ten explosions with a distinct tone and amplitude. A few hours later, cruise missiles and a swarm of drones followed.
Strike to Ukraine October 22 Compared to October 10
But unlike the previous raid, air defence kept firing all night and even after dawn. From my position, I heard the familiar sequence of sounds — bursts from air defence guns and the thud of downed drones or missiles crashing. I also saw something hit in the sky, though the distance made it impossible to identify what exactly.
According to preliminary data, the enemy attacked the capital’s energy sector, including thermal power plants. But as always, it hit residential areas, non-residential buildings. Something fell in the area of medical facilities. In Kyiv and the region, there are wounded and dead, including children. Note that our attacks on targets in the depths of the chicken coop almost never have casualties. And extremely rarely does something fly past the obvious target into something else.
Why Strategic Aviation Stayed Grounded
The possible urgency of delivering Strike to Ukraine October 22 may not have given the Pidars* enough time to use every platform capable of launching missiles. Yet the reason might be different. The Enemy probably feared deploying their strategic aviation — our forces could hit those bombers right on their bases. The same goes for the ships carrying Kalibrs, still hiding in Novorossiysk.
One would like to hope that this did not happen because the Armed Forces of Ukraine got some countermeasures. They haven’t been “exposed” yet and we don’t know about their existence. The enemy only suspects. At least, there is already information that a new iteration of heavy BEKs³ appeared.
¹Pidar (pronounced “pidar”) – Ukrainian military slang for an enemy combatant. In radio communications, the word “Pidar” sounds shorter and clearer than “Enemy” especially under EW.
²Khuilo – the most popular nickname for Russian dictator V. Putin. First used during the 2014 invasion, and since 2022 most Ukrainians call him only that. See more on Wikipedia.
³BEK – (Ukrainian abbreviation for “БезЕкіпажний Катер”, БЕК, literally “uncrewed boat”). A Ukrainian surface naval drone used primarily for reconnaissance and strike operations.
