Chronicles of Ukraine’s Fight and Resistance

Russian Fascism Repeats Hitler Patterns 80 Years Later

Russian Fascism Repeats Hitler Patterns 80 Years Later

Russia embraces fascism. The entire sane world begins to understand this. And hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians had to die at the hands of Orcs¹ for the world to start grasping this. Umberto Eco, Italian philosopher and scholar, first described the signs of fascism. Russian fascism displays all these markers with terrifying clarity as the world finally opens its eyes.

But I personally prefer the formulations of fascism’s signs as edited by Lawrence Britt:

Powerful and prolonged traditionalism.
Disdain for universally recognized human rights.
Identification and cultivation of enemies.
Supremacy of the military.
Strong discrimination based on gender.
Control over mass media.
Obsession with national security.
Intertwining of religion and government.
Protection of corporations.
Suppression of labor unions.
Disdain for intellectuals and the arts.
Obsession with crime and punishment — police receive almost unlimited powers.
Rampant cronyism and corruption.
Fraudulent elections.

I would also add dehumanization of invented enemies and society’s persistent need for acts of genocide.

The World Finally Sees

We all see what all of russia has turned into today, from the insane Khuilo² to the last Buryat. And the world saw this too. But for the veil to fall from the world’s eyes, genocide in Bucha, Borodyanka, Mariupol and hundreds of other places we still don’t know about had to happen…

Planet Earth’s development at the next turn repeats history. Again, as 80 years ago, an anti-fascist coalition formed. Again at a new turn in history, the USA and Britain became the main creators of the anti-fascist coalition, only instead of Roosevelt — Biden, and instead of Churchill — Johnson.

And again, as 80 years ago, almost the same countries either openly sided with fascism or began supporting it, shamefully averting their eyes and saying they’re against war.

History’s Dark Patterns Repeat

Remember which side Hungary, Italy, Croatia were on in WWII? Only now Serbia replaced Croatia, and Georgia replaced Italy.
In the actions of modern fascists, amazing coincidences easily trace. This includes support of the raving führer by the overwhelming majority of artists, officials’ fear before the führer, hysterical propaganda not on radio but on television, half-swastikas everywhere, militarization of children and Putin Youth, forced deportation of people from occupied territories to russia, burning of corpses in destroyed cities in crematoria.

Lessons not learned by humanity are doomed to repetition. And to those who now support russia, regardless of their actions’ motives, Aunt Karma will definitely come. Aunt Karma is very angry now, ask the Orcs. Russian fascism proves that humanity failed to internalize the horrors of the 20th century, and now we pay the price again.

¹Orcs – a common term for Russians who support or participate in the armed aggression against Ukraine. Dehumanizing? Yes. Accurate? Also yes.

²Khuilo – the most popular nickname for Russian dictator V. Putin. First used during the 2014 invasion, and since 2022 most Ukrainians call him only that. See more on Wikipedia.
