Russian fascists destroyed maternity hospital in Mariupol
One of the most shocking war crimes in Donetsk region happened when Russian occupation forces destroyed maternity hospital in Mariupol together with a children’s clinic. They bombed the city day and night, leaving Mariupol without electricity, water, and almost all communication.
People could not escape because Russian fascists kept shelling every single road leading out of the city. They trapped civilians inside and then killed them with constant fire.
Viacheslav Abroskin, former First Deputy Head of Ukraine’s National Police, reported the attack first. In his Telegram channel, he wrote:
Right now, Russian occupation forces dropped several bombs on the children’s hospital. The destruction is colossal. The medical facility, where children had recently been treated, is completely ruined. Information about casualties among the children is being clarified.
About 40 minutes later, the Mariupol City Council confirmed the strike. They described how the children’s hospital, located next to the maternity ward, lay in ruins. Surgeon Timur Marin, working in another hospital, shared heartbreaking details:
On the day the maternity hospital was bombed, three women were brought to us. One was in critical condition with a crushed pelvis and torn leg. While doctors tried to stabilize her, we performed a C-section to deliver the baby. The child showed no signs of life, and half an hour of resuscitation failed. Another half hour was spent trying to save the mother, but also without success. Both died.
The exact number of victims remains unknown, but witnesses estimate between 33 and 39 killed. One of the pregnant women became the face of this war crime in a widely published Associated Press photo report, as the agency’s crew was in Mariupol at the time.
Update:
On March 28, 2023, Ukrainian investigators confirmed that Russian war criminal Colonel Sergey Atroshchenko gave the direct order to bomb the Drama Theater, the maternity hospital, and the children’s hospital in Mariupol. Yet the main war criminal behind every one of these attacks is Russia’s führer Vladimir Pootin (aka Khuilo). We will remember that Russian fascists destroyed maternity hospital in Mariupol and murdered civilians with full intent.
