Tucker Carlson vs Reality: Christians in Wartime Ukraine
“Ukrainian authorities ban Christianity,” “Christians in Ukraine face persecution” — you can still frequently see similar statements not only from russian propagandists. Unfortunately, this russian narrative spreads also in foreign media, particularly American ones. Tucker Carlson and similar figures actively push these lies, distorting the reality of Christians in wartime Ukraine. Why they spread russian propaganda is a topic for separate research.
And to figure out whether Christians really face persecution in Ukraine, Stephen Moore — former Chief of Staff of the US Congress and founder of The Ukraine Freedom Project — talked with Ukrainian scholars, pastors, and Christian leaders.
Stephen Moore spoke with Ukrainians to learn the truth and tell the story of Christianity during war.
In this documentary film, you’ll hear directly from Ukrainian Christians about what’s actually happening with religious communities during russia’s full-scale invasion. From Kyiv to occupied territories, the Ukraїner International team explores how Christian values guide Ukrainians during wartime and debunks myths spread by russian propaganda.
Featured voices:
- Vladyslav Havrylov, Georgetown University, historian;
- Maksym Ostapenko, former director of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra;
- Viktor Yelensky, State Service for Ethnopolitics;
- Mykhailo Britsyn, pastor from occupied Melitopol;
What came out of this can be seen in the documentary “Christians of Ukraine.” The Ukraїner International team worked on it during the war. It shows the real lives of Christians in Wartime Ukraine. These people serve, volunteer, and protect others. They help soldiers and support civilians under fire. Their faith gives strength to resist the invasion. The truth about these communities is very different from Kremlin propaganda. Russian media spread lies about “persecution” but the facts show the opposite. Christians in Ukraine stand with their nation and defend freedom together.
