Yaroslavl Refinery Fire: Good Birds Bring Heat to Gazprom Asset

Yaroslavl Refinery Fire: Good Birds Bring Heat to Gazprom Asset

Today, the population of the Swamps* had especially many reasons to film bright videos that will undoubtedly gather countless views on YouTube. For example, although not from the best angles, they still managed to film the illumination at the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl, approximately 250 km northeast of Moscow. According to eyewitnesses, several significant explosions were clearly heard from the refinery’s direction. After that, a fire glow was observed there. The Yaroslavl refinery fire lit up the night sky with spectacular flames that could be seen from across the city.

Other eyewitnesses write that before the explosions, they could clearly hear drones flying in that direction. Still others report that it’s burning there so merrily and enthusiastically that the M-8 highway and part of Moscow Avenue in Yaroslavl itself, which runs nearby, got blocked. That is, such heat emanates from there that cars traveling along the specified highway could overheat slightly. So they blocked it, just to be safe.

Good Birds Bring Light and Heat

So, good birds brought both light and heat to the frosty and dark wilderness in the Swamps. Moreover, this plant is jointly owned by Gazprom and Rosneft, so two odious companies got a pleasant surprise at once. After all, now they’ll have to allocate funds for repairs. And as we know, Gazprom’s finances are singing not romances anymore, but something like funeral marches. Rosneft is also rapidly racing after Gazprom, although it’s still significantly behind. So the night strike hit the right place.

In addition, the plant itself, according to open sources, ranks among the top five largest Russian refineries by volume of hydrocarbon processing. It’s the largest oil refining enterprise in the Central Federal District. The plant processes about 15 million tons of oil per year. We’ll remind you that the record holder for this indicator in the henhouse is Omsk refinery with 21 million tons per year. As is customary, the large enterprise produces products of practically the entire nomenclature: gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel, fuel oil, a wide range of lubricants, and other chemical products.

Bonus Feature: Orsk Mechanical Plant Goes Boom

Moreover, in the city called Orsk, located in the Southern Urals, a smoke show arose. The Orsk Mechanical Plant is burning there. Local orcs post mesmerizing photos and videos on the Network of how powerfully the plant gave off smoke. Nothing about drones gets reported, and therefore, as of now, the cause of the massive fire isn’t entirely clear, but it can be guessed by carefully studying the enterprise’s profile.

According to open data, the enterprise’s profile is: mechanical engineering, oil and gas equipment, defense industry. Supposedly the last specialization item says nothing, since everything related to military topics usually appears in general terms or even so abstractly that understanding what they produce there becomes impossible.

But if you dig deeper, some details emerge. In December 1941, authorities evacuated plant No. 176 for ammunition production from Tula to Orsk. And today a large-scale fire broke out there. Random coincidence with the Yaroslavl refinery fire? Or systematic liquidation of military capacities in the Swamps?

*Swamps – an ironic name for Russia, emphasizing decay, stagnation, and filth. The Commander of the USF, Robert Browdie, and most soldiers use this word.
